"Any man can be a Father but it takes someone special to be a dad."
I have the best dad in the world. Seriously. I am so lucky to have been blessed with a father so compassionate, loving, and dedicated as my father, and I just want him to know that this Father's Day.
Growing up, Dad was totally hands-on. He watched my brother and I while my mom worked nights at the hospital. I remember our Sunday night dinners out, followed by our weekly routine of playing on the local school's playground. I remember hours of playing with Lincoln Logs, tickle attacks, silly bedtime stories, and his hard work in building a sandbox, swing set, and playhouse in the backyard.
Even now Dad devotes countless hours to helping, even when I know he has many other things he could do with his time. He is always willing to lend a helping hand. From my perspective, Dad always knows how to do everything! I always look to him for directions, information on best buys (he's so great at researching), and any and everything handy. I am lucky to have grown up with his guidance and support.
No matter what I've faced in my life, Dad always gives the best advice, and he gives it honestly and without reservations. He always reminds me to trust and have faith, and it is his own spiritual walk that has served as such an example for me. Even now I know that most nights you will find him in bed reading his well-read Bible (or at least sleeping with it on his chest.) I believe we share a special sense of humor among us (After all, I obviously get my goofiness from him!) :)
A Father's love is such a blessing and I am so grateful this Father's Day to express how thankful I am to have a man as devoted to his family as my own Dad. He has been a pillar of strength when times are hard, and I know he is going to make an absolute amazing "Paw-Paw". I know my little girl will look up to him as much as I have my whole life.
I love you so much Dad, Happy Father's Day!
