Our To-Do List - YIKES!

Ok, so this week, Billy and I sat down and tried to create a "to-do" list of things we'd like to see done (aka I'd like to see done) before the baby arrives....which will be very soon! Ahhh!  This list is by no means exhaustive and does not even begin to touch the things we want done to the OUTSIDE of the house (because that's a whole other story!) I decided to post it this morning as a way to motivate us to cross things off the list. Maybe if I put it up for you to see, we will feel more inclined to get them done. Unfortunately, we know we don't have the time or resources ($$$) to complete all these tasks before baby girl enters our world, but I can dream. We had a long list of things we wanted to do before we found out we were welcoming another family member, so now that we have this extra news, our list has grown exponentially!
Some of the items are small and won't take any time at all, some are projects that will require extra time and help. (Calling all family! - haha, just kidding... kinda). Just making the list made me feel better. Maybe in a few weeks I can re-type my shorter, new list to show all the progress we've made (hopefully!) I have prominently displayed the list on the refrigerator in hopes that my husband will also feel motivated on his days off. It's hard to accomplish a lot together with our very separate schedules - but we will just keep praying for that situation as well!

Our To-Do List: (for now!)
- Fix our french door situation
- Intall smoke detectors
- Intall carbon monoxide detectors
- Buy fire extinguishers
- Order nursery furniture
- Cover cable outlet box in nursery
- Change air filters (if they even need to be changed? - just thought of this one!)
- Paint nursery (walls - green, ceiling - pink)
- Find (affordable) newborn photographer (if you know someone, pass along the name!)
- Buy/Install paper towel holder under cabinet in kitchen
- Install toilet paper holders in all bathrooms (what did the people do for the 30+ years prior to owning this house that lived here?!)
- Install 2 towel holders (our bathroom)
- Install curtain rod/curtains in dining room
- Buy/install new nursery blinds
- Put together nursery furniture
- Move kitchen light fixture to dining room
- Install new light fixture in kitchen
- Mount TVs on wall in bedroom/living room
- Buy entertainment center for living room
- Buy end tables (for family room, living room)
- Refinish mom's old table for family room
-  Buy night stands (master bedroom - heck, maybe one day we'll get a whole matching furniture set!)
- Install laminate flooring in the upstairs in this order: (office, nursery, hallway, guest bedroom, master bedroom)
- Rip up disgusting carpet in our bathroom
- Install new tile flooring our bathroom
- Hire someone to come out and take down 4 large trees in the backyard (they're just looming over our house!)
- Hire someone to power wash the house
- Buy a generator
- Buy a porch swing - (I have visions of rocking the baby on warm September nights out there!)
- Install tile back splash in kitchen
- Paint master bathroom
- Paint master bedroom
- Paint upstairs hallway
- Paint dining room
- Change air returns/registers downstairs
- Buy entryway furniture
-  Buy small table for family room
- Buy cute club chair to go in family room next to recliner
- Buy storage bench to go under picture window in family room
- Install curtains for picture window in family room

Steph's DIY nursery project list:
- Order Jeremiah 29:11 wall decal art
- Order/decorate ABC letters for alphabet wall
- Have hubby build shelving for open bookcase wall and paint white
-  Make hairbow accessory organizer (you know she's going to need one with all the bows that will be in her hair!)
- Make button art monogram
- Attempt to transform ugly brass chandelier in guest bedroom to darling nursery chandelier

Long term goals:
- Replace all windows in the house (eeek!)
- Buy my grown up dining room furniture set I've been dreaming of (after all the baby clutter is moved out of the way...one day)

Super long term goal: (aka wish list/will never happen)
- Cantilever our back roof and insulate and drywall our freezer/sauna storage room to create a new master bathroom/walk in closet of my dreeeams)
- Build a two car garage with bonus room on top - ha!

There it is - and as we speak, there are things that are popping into my head that I want, but I know will not happen right now. If you own a house you know - you're never done. So this is the beginning list I hope to refer to in the future. The next time I post it, I hope a lot of things will be crossed off (I LOVE that feeling!) Now I'm off to get started on the list and be productive...wish me luck!
